67 undergraduate students from the Department of Pharmacy of the University of Antwerp, Belgium, visited the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens on 20/3/2018 in the framework of an educational program for on-site experience in similar field studies and the observation of career prospects.

This initiative was enthusiastically supported by the Rectoral Authorities of the University of Athens as well as the Dean of the School of Health Sciences and was coordinated by Professor D. Rekkas, Chairman of the Department of Pharmacy.

The Rector, Professor M.-A Dimopoulos welcomed and greeted the students at the historical central building  and the Vice Rector of Academic Affairs and International Relations, Professor K.Buraselis presented the University's international relations with partner Education Institutions.

Then, the Chairman of the Department of Pharmacy, Professor D. Rekkas also welcomed the students and the Assistant Professor V. Karalis presented the main activities of the Department. A more detailed presentation of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the Erasmus + program and student exchange opportunities was  given by the Head of European and International Relations Department, Mr. F. Fryda.

Short oral presentations of research performed in both Universities' Pharmaceutical Departments were then delivered by 6 students from the University of Antwerp and 6 undergraduate and postgraduate students of the NKUA, highlighting their major research areas.

A guided tour, depicting the historical profile of the University of Athens, was subsequently offered to the delegation of students together with their accompanying two Professors in the central University building.

This educational program gave also the students the opportunity to visit the premises of the Department of Pharmacy of the University of Athens at Panepistimiopolis, Zografou,  a Hospital and a hospital pharmacy, a Community Pharmacy and they were accustomed to the drug manufacturing production and distribution areas.

The whole educational event at NKUA was very successful and early in the afternoon of the 23/3 the students left for their next visit according to their program.
