WELCOME NOTE BY THE RECTOR

It is with pleasure that I welcome you to the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

NKUA, the largest University of Greece, holds a great place in Greek history as it is the first founded university of South-Eastern Europe (year of foundation 1837). It is hailed as one of the greatest educational institutions in the world, due to its contribution to education, research and innovation.

Throughout its history, the University has guided and shaped the modern educational system of Greece. By producing new knowledge and providing advanced and specialized education, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens has always contributed growth and development to our nation and the entire world.

Today, the institution remains a thriving community of education and research. With the constant endeavor of all staff and students, the university continues to be the main pillar of the educational and cultural development of Greece.

With the aim of the continuing educational and research excellence of this great academic institution, I encourage each and every one of you to contribute to the future of our university and the nation, with enthusiasm and determination. We are filled with hope for the years to come.
