George Kotsovolis, who is studying at the Mathematics Department of the University of Athens won a gold medal at the 25th student competition IMC (International Mathematics Competition). The event took place on 22nd-28th of July at Blagoevgrad in Bulgaria. This is an important accomplishment that is added to a series of successes of students of the Mathematics Department and the University of Athens in similar competitions.
IMC is one of the most prestigious competitions for students, organized by the University College London. Students compete for two days, dealing with 5 Mathematical problems per day. The IMC competition began in 1994 while students of the Mathematics Department of Athens were participating every year from the academic year 2007-08 with great success. This year 350 students were participating in total. The student of University of Athens was sponsored by the city of N. Ionia.
