
The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens will host an international roundtable discussion titled ‘After #MeToo: Feminist Politics in the Age of Backlash’ on Tuesday, 2 June 2026, at 18:00 in the University’s Great Hall (30 Panepistimiou Street, Athens).
The event marks the publication of the volume ‘#MeToo in the Media’, edited by Professor Lilie Chouliaraki.
The discussion is organised as part of the Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Athens and the Hellenic Observatory Centre for Research on Contemporary Greece and Cyprus, fostering international dialogue on gender, communication, public discourse, and democracy in contemporary digital cultures.
Opening remarks will be delivered by Professor Sophia Papaioannou, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, International Relations, and Extroversion.

The event aims to provide a timely forum for academic and public debate on the challenges emerging in the wake of the global #MeToo movement, with particular attention to the role of media, digital platforms, and contemporary feminist politics.
