
Professor of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure, Business Criminal Law, and Legal Philosophy at the Faculty of Law of Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Dr Frank Saliger, has been awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa by the School of Law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
The award ceremony was held on Friday, 12 June 2026, in the University’s Great Hall.
Proceedings opened with welcoming remarks by Professor Konstantinos Christodoulou, Dean of the School of Law.

Next, Dimitrios Kioupis, Professor of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure at the School of Law, spoke about Professor Frank Saliger’s academic work and personal qualities.

The formal conferment then took place with Professor Konstantinos Christodoulou reading the official citation. Following this, he invested the honouree with the academic gown of the School.



The ceremony closed with the awardee, Professor Frank Saliger, giving a talk titled ‘Ultima Ratio and Subsidiarity as Limiting Principles of Criminal Law’.
