The Arts & Humanities Sector of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens has been on a continuous rise over the past three years in the most important world rankings of universities, while contributing to the improvement of the Foundation's position in them. This conclusion is drawn from the results for the Arts & Humanities Sector published in 2018-2021, by three of the most reliable rankings, QS (Quacquarelli Symonds), Times Higher Education and US News Best Global Universities.
These classifications use a combination of objective criteria assessing academic reputation, research production and appeal the research work produced in the field of study they examine. Moreover, in the case of QS, both the location and performance of specific thematic areas are assessed which are sub-sections of the Sector of Humanities and Arts.
Thus, the QS ranking reserved, for 2021, exceptionally important distinctions for Classical Studies, Ancient History and Archaeology (Sectors of Philology and History - Archaeology) of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. According to the results of this ranking, the thematic fields of the Foundation's Classical Studies and Ancient History are ranked, for the first time, in positions 51-70 worldwide, while the Archaeology sector remains high in positions 101-150.

Tables 1 and 2 of the attachment reflect the individual scores criteria for the two scientific fields. In the case of the sector of Classical Studies and Ancient History, the improvement of the academic reputation in the last three years, was a key factor for a successful entry to 70 best universities worldwide. More specifically, between years 2019-2021, the index rose by 7.2%, which is extremely important for an indicator covering 60% of the score. In the case of the sector of Archaeology, it is particularly important that the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens remains for fourth consecutive year in positions 101-150, which demonstrates the diachronic distinction of this sector and its international recognition.
