The Department of Geology and Geoenvironment at the University of Athens has reached a significant national milestone, with three of its faculty members ranked among the Best Earth Science Scientists in Greece, securing fifth, eighth, and eleventh places, respectively.
Professor Filippos Vallianatos (5th place) distinguished himself for his research in Geophysics, Physics of the Earth’s Interior, Earthquake Source Physics, and Applied and Environmental Geophysics.
Professor Maria Triantaphyllou (8th place) distinguished herself for her work in Paleoceanography, Paleoclimatology and Environmental Micropaleontology, Paleoenvironmental Reconstruction, and Stratigraphy.
Professor Paraskevi Nomikou (11th place) distinguished herself in Oceanography, Submarine Volcanism, Morphology, and Geo-Cultural Heritage.
These rankings underscore the Department’s international prominence and enduring commitment to research excellence.
