University Sports Centre

The aim of the University Sports Centre is the organization and operation of physical exercise programmes and activities for University students, as well as the instruction of the art of sports.

The University Sports Centre and its sports installations at the University Campus in Ano Ilisia are at disposal of all the students of Athens University so that they can participate in the different programmes and athletic departments, thus making use of their free time, organize their activities and have a better quality of life, which will ensure their mental and physical health as well as contribute to the creation of a balanced personality.

Interested students can select any of the following activities:

Tennis
Basketball
Volleyball
Football
Swimming
Shooting
Traditional dancing
Classical Sports
Table Tennis
Gymnastics - Physical conditioning
Aerobics
Chess
Badminton

In addition, there are activities that take place outside the Installations of the University Sports Centre, such as:

Snow skiing
Mountaineering
Trekking
Sailing

Apart from participating for recreational purposes, students can form teams that are representative of their Departments or the University and take part in internal, inter-university and international student championships, during the academic year. The winners are awarded prizes by the Senate in a special ceremony at the end of the academic year.

Registration takes place daily. Students who are interested in registering have to bring their student identity card (triptych) and (1) recent photograph. The Sports Centre operates only on weekdays.
